Salary Range:
$120,000.00 To $150,000.00 Annually

Position Summary

This position will report to the Business and Program Development team and work in partnership with the Executive Vice President of Milken Institute Finance, Finance program leads and across the Institute to cultivate, close, and steward funders to meaningfully advance the portfolio. In coordinate with appropriate colleagues, this role will foster productive relationships with funders to expand the organization’s network, reach, resources, and social impact, and will plan, support, and execute Milken Institute-wide development strategy to meet goals across its public platforms, including the annual Global Conference, the Finance Forum, FinTech Symposium, and other regional summits.

Responsibilities

  • With oversight from their manager, leading efforts to design partnership opportunities and identify, build, and steward relationships with corporate and individual funders in alignment with Finance pillar priorities
  • Developing and effectively articulating the value proposition for Finance program support, including:
  • Identifying prospects across the corporate and individual ecosystem
    -Developing written and oral proposals
    -Conducting and expeditiously closing solicitations
    -Managing sponsor/funder acknowledgment and retention
  • Collaborating with leaders on the Programmatic Fundraising team with distinct and supportive portfolios and fundraising goals.
  • Communicating across teams to ensure an effective and timely dissemination of information about new & existing funding relationships.
  • Working across Milken Institute, the Milken Institute Finance Pillar, Events, Business Development, and other centers and department teams, as needed, to ensure partners are effectively integrated into convenings and other Milken Institute programs
  • Managing relationships with key prospects and funders and coordinating all Milken Institute interactions with those partners
  • Participating in Milken Institute events and representing the Institute in key finance ecosystem convenings
    Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience fundraising for non-profit programs, projects and/or events. Management experience a plus
  • Track record of successfully cultivating and expeditiously closing funding
  • Working knowledge of at least three areas of finance a plus – financial markets, asset management, wealth management, impact investing, banking, private equity, private credit, venture capital, entrepreneurship, corporate finance, financial accounting, FinTech, infrastructure finance, community finance, housing finance, and financial regulation
  • Knowledge of community development financial institutions (CDFIs), minority depository institutions (MDIs), the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), and the Emergency Capital Investment Program (ECIP) a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven project management and leadership skill set
  • Ability to remain proactive, level-headed, highly organized, and detail-oriented across multiple areas of focus
  • Flexibility to take on new opportunities, expand portfolio and adapt to internal and external environment
  • Multitasker able to handle complex projects in a fast-paced environment, requiring ability to effectively prioritize and respond promptly to internal and external communications
  • Innovative problem-solver who can generate workable solutions and resolve issues
  • Motivated self-starter displaying high productivity and follow-through in all areas of responsibility
  • Strong ability to work with people and interact positively with all levels of an organization
  • Flexibility to travel as needed for meetings and events and to work across various time zones around the world
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to quickly learn CRM (Salesforce experience a plus)

Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

This position will work in a professional office environment on a hybrid schedule consisting of three (3) days per week reporting in-person to the Washington, DC office location (Tuesday – Thursday), with the remaining two (2) days working remotely. Please understand, this schedule is subject to change at the Institute’s sole discretion.

This person will also be required to travel occasionally to other offices and/or venues to assist with events as needed, requiring occasional work outside of traditional hours. International along with domestic travel is possible. Additionally, this position requires interacting virtually on a regular basis with Milken Institute staff based in other locations in the United States and around the world.
