Overview
The Milken Institute is seeking an experienced and solutions-driven Associate Director of Production – Conference AV to oversee event execution, video production, and creative deployment across a uniquely versatile, high-tech event and streaming environment. This individual will play a central role in executing live productions and experiences that reinforce the Milken Institute’s pillars of entrepreneurship, education, financial literacy, and healthcare innovation.
The ideal candidate is an experienced control room and field tech professional with proven experience producing complex live events, coordinating multi-platform streaming, and supervising large-scale creative assets—including integration across LED walls and broadcast environments. They will join a fast-paced, mission-driven team dedicated to delivering thought leadership events at the highest level.
Responsibilities
The Associate Director will work on-site with the Milken Center’s event and AV teams to:
- Lead technical planning and execution for high-profile events, summits, and speaker series.
- Supervise day-of-show operations across all production disciplines: video, lighting, audio, streaming, and staging.
- Manage and maintain a flexible, state-of-the-art broadcast and streaming facility within the Milken Institute’s DC campus.
- Coordinate pre-production workflows including run-of-show development, scenic planning, vendor communication, and creative asset delivery.
- Collaborate with in-house teams on content production for extremely large LED surfaces and multi-channel AV environments.
- Support rapid transitions between event modes—live, hybrid, or pre-recorded—with minimal downtime and maximum impact.
- Maintain inventory, documentation, and readiness for all event production equipment and support infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with professionalism and urgency.
- Serve as technical director and control room lead for broadcast, streams, and program feeds of live events.
- Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in live event production, streaming, or broadcast management.
- Demonstrated success producing events in mission-driven or high-profile institutional settings.
- Familiarity with large-format displays, broadcast switchers, PTZ cameras, signal routing, and streaming platforms.
- Strong technical understanding of AV system architecture and live event workflows.
- Experience supervising production crews and managing third-party vendor teams.
- Calm, detail-oriented leadership under pressure, with strong communication and client-facing skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree in event production, media, communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience accepted.
- Comfort navigating the creative and technical coordination of LED-based media and live content switching.
- Work Environment and Schedule
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Washington, D.C. (Federal City campus). Events will include evening and weekend coverage as required.
