The Opportunity:

As a Pharmacoepidemiologist at Astellas Pharma, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that generate epidemiologic evidence and insights related to the use and safety of Astellas products. Your expertise will guide the analysis of observational data and contribute to the design and execution of observational studies that fulfill our post-marketing commitments.

Key Activities for this role:

  • Develop and implement safety assessments for drug products using external databases and registries to determine background rates of events of interest in target populations.
  • Assist with the design, execution, and timely submission of observational studies that fulfill
  • Astellas’ postmarketing commitments using good epidemiology practice.
  • Contribute to the development and utilization of new methodologies and advanced pharmacoepidemiology tools, analyzing potential safety signals.
  • Provide scientific support for all Astellas safety risk management activities where pharmacoepidemiology expertise is required.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and requirements worldwide in all epidemiology activities.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Substantial experience in the pharmaceutical/health-related industry.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacovigilance regulations and guidelines, including US, ICH, and EU regulations.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and collaboration skills within a matrix environment.
  • Ability to interpret quantitative data and compose technical and scientific reports.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including for presentations and publications.

Preferred Experience:

  • PhD in Epidemiology or a related field or equivalent.
    Global experience in epidemiology preferred.
  • Education/Qualifications:
  • PhD in Epidemiology or a related field preferred.

Additional Information:

This is a permanent, full-time role.
Location: UK office (Addlestone).
This position follows our hybrid working model. The role requires a blend of home and a minimum of 1 day per quarter in our UK office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs.
