Your impact
As part of the ongoing expansion of our Drug Design and Medical Research function, we are looking to recruit a Computational Protein Engineer. You will collaborate with world leading teams to deliver scientific expertise and strategic direction to drive both improvements in the Platform and apply this to real drug design problems.
If you are a skilled and ambitious scientist looking to take the next step in your career, joining the Isomorphic Labs now will lift you out of your comfort zone and provide you with an amazing opportunity for personal growth and development. The position requires an active, individual contributor with hands-on responsibilities, not a people manager.
What you will do
- Apply your knowledge and track record of modern drug design principles to provide effective tools using our internal state-of-the-art ML models and Platform to execute Drug Design programs
- Collaborate both internally and with third party organisations interacting within multidisciplinary teams to support data-driven delivery of high quality scientific solutions to complex technical problems
- Mentoring and supporting other members of the growing team in their development
- Prepare detailed scientific proposals and reports to support new and ongoing programs
- Embrace and champion our culture of inclusion and continuous professional development

- Extensive industry experience in a pharma/biotech environment
- Experience working in multidisciplinary large molecule drug discovery teams
- Proficient programming skills with a strong emphasis in Python
- PhD in computational chemistry, structural biology, biochemistry or related field, or alternatively a Master’s degree with equivalent industry experience
- Experience of working on biologics projects, including antibody therapeutics
- In depth knowledge of protein structure, gained through experience with protein
- 3D models, protein function analysis and identification of key interactions
- Experience preparing datasets, benchmarking different types of tooling, and working with structure-based metrics
- Comfortable learning new ways of working and can work in fast changing environments
Nice to have:

- Experience of working in immunology and oncology therapeutic areas preferably in the context of therapeutic biologics discovery
- Has worked in an industry partnership/collaboration
- Experience working with antibody sequencing data
- Experience of working with complex biologics modalities, such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADC’s) or multi-specifics and working knowledge of medicinal chemistry principles for peptides
- Understanding and application of molecular dynamics methodologies to study protein dynamics and interactions
Hybrid working
It’s hugely important for us to share knowledge and build strong relationships with each other, and we find it easier to do this if we spend time together in person. This is why we follow a hybrid model, and would require you to be able to come into the office 3 days a week (currently Tuesday, Wednesday, and one other day depending on which team you’re in). If you have additional needs that would prevent you from following this hybrid approach, we’d be happy to talk through these if you’re selected for an initial screening call.
