Role Overview: This is a unique opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing company and serve as primary contact for all laboratory related items, acting as a liaison to property management, contractors, and employees
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact for all laboratory operations, acting as a liaison to property management, contractors, and employees
- Manage interactions and relationships with academic and commercial vendors
- Coordinate all aspects of laboratory supply procurement including but not limited to supply forecasts and ordering, obtaining quotations, purchase orders, invoicing, and logistics
- Receive all shipments of lab supplies and reagents, including unpacking, logging items into an inventory system, and storing them appropriately.
- Oversee the procurement and scheduled deliveries of bulk laboratory reagents, including compressed gases (e.g., liquid nitrogen, carbon dioxide) and dry ice, ensuring adequate supply for research and operational needs
- Facilitate safety committee meetings and support and maintain compliance with all applicable safety rules and regulations
- Plan, develop, organize, and implement policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training and standards for lab operations to ensure that the efficiency, effectiveness, safety and quality control of the laboratory comply with federal, state, and company regulations and standards
- Manage and maintain laboratory business processes including laboratory inventory management, software, asset management, and other documentation
- Coordinate routine preventative maintenance and service, and annual calibrations and certifications of all laboratory equipment.
- Manage acquisition of new lab equipment, including price negotiations and installation/qualification of equipment
- Work with management/finance and scientific staff for fixed asset forecasting
- Ensure the proper handling, secure storage, and timely coordination of disposal for chemical and biohazard waste, adhering to all applicable safety and environmental regulations
- Ensure compliance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) by implementing safety protocols, ensuring proper handling and timely coordination of disposal for both chemical and biohazardous waste, and providing training to laboratory personnel on best practices and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate and perform laboratory facilities support work, including coordination of contractor and vendor services, maintenance of equipment, and document retention
- Serve as the EH&S manager and ensure compliance with safety regulations, laboratory standards, and institutional policies by coordinating and supervising facility inspections and audits
- Assist in performing in vitro laboratory work such as cell culture work and cell-based assays (ELISA, FACS) on an as needed basis
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience biotechnology industry and/or laboratory management
- Previous industry work experience in drug development
- In vitro laboratory benchwork experience preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor management and team collaboration
- Experience with electronic laboratory notebook experience is preferred
