Your role in our team:

The Logistics Technician is responsible for receiving incoming goods and preparing shipments for sensitive biological materials and tracking the movement of goods shipped across the world from and to our internal and external customers & collaborators, ensuring the goods are delivered in the most safe, efficient and cost-effective way, to the right place at the right time, whilst communicating clearly and promptly at all times.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Outgoing:
– Pack, prepare and ship materials globally, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and transport regulations including IATA & International Customs regulations.
– Dispatch goods ensuring all relevant documentation and labelling is accurate and meets appropriate standards.
– Ensure materials with special handling, storage or distribution requirements (such as hazardous shipments and temperature critical material) are accurately supervised.
– Handling of hazardous goods (including but not limited to liquid nitrogen storage, dry ice, lithium batteries) for all typologies of shipment.
– Proactively track shipments and investigate any missing shipments or shipment errors interacting with couriers / clients to communicate / troubleshoot proactively, timely and accurately on delivery status.
Incoming:
– Receipt and booking-in of stock. Update accurately and promptly ERP & all systems of record with relevant information such as lot numbers & expiry dates, prioritising temperature sensitive products.
– Inspection of goods received.
– Stock control; movement of stock around site.
– Unloading of supplies.
– Place orders to replenish stocks.
– Receive and store materials. Call-offs from external storage locations to maintain desired levels of stock.
– Weekly cycle counts & issue purchase orders to keep the right level of inventory on site.
– Accepting deliveries, checking and accurately updating ERP & all records.
Internal Material Flows:
– Morning and afternoon lab restockings: pick, update ERP & all systems of records timely and accurately and ensure appropriate materials flow between stores and lab areas.
– LN2 collections & storage (H&S capacity). Assist with priority LN2 consolidations / stock count.
– Waste sorting / disposals of expired products, maintain stores, goods-in, goods-out & loading areas as clean, organised and obstruction free.

You…

  • Will have a minimum Degree level or equivalent qualifications in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Will have experience in a a Logistics role, preferably within a scientific environment, biotech manufacturing environment.

With essential experience in…

  • Experience of international air shipping. Knowledge of customs import/export process and stock management activities.
  • High level attention to detail, as needed for accurate documentation and accurate records.
  • High level of client-facing communication skills, both written and verbal and able to present information in a clear, concise and constructive manner.
  • Excellent time management, organisation skills and experience working to challenging deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with this role involving standing 60% to 100% of the time and lifting heavy weights.
  • Knowledge and experience using computer software including ERP system.

…and possibly…

  • Experience in a GMP environment would be advantageous.
  • Certified to handle and ship Dangerous Goods or willingness and ability to be trained immediately.
  • Supplier account management. Working with couriers, customs and brokers.
  • Experience delivering process improvement, such as Kaizen or 5S.
