We’re currently seeking a Market Segment Manager for Biopharma. This strategic, global role is passionate about driving the adoption of ONT sequencing across the biopharmaceutical value chain, from discovery to development and manufacturing.

The successful candidate will lead segment marketing strategy and commercial initiatives across critical application areas, such as biomarker discovery, cell, gene, and RNA therapies, synthetic biology, and quality control in bio-manufacturing. They will play a key role in defining the biopharma market narrative, identifying growth opportunities, and positioning Oxford Nanopore as a progressive technology for both research and regulated environments.

This role requires a deep understanding of biopharma workflows, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics, along with the ability to navigate scientific and operational challenges faced by customers in this space. Success will depend on close collaboration with commercial, product management, business development, and applications teams, as well as external partners, to align Oxford Nanopore sequencing solutions with evolving industry needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans to position Oxford Nanopore as an innovative and enabling platform across the biopharma R&D and manufacturing landscape.
  • Increase Oxford Nanopore sequencing adoption for genomic and epigenetic profiling in various applications.
  • Build and sustain strategic relationships with visionary leaders, contract research and manufacturing organizations, and regulatory stakeholders to align commercial initiatives with market needs and evolving industry standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, product marketing, business development, applications, and regulatory teams to craft and deliver go-to-market strategies that accelerate customer success and revenue growth.
  • Lead the development and execution of targeted marketing campaigns and high-impact commercial content that drives awareness, engagement, and adoption across biopharma segments.
  • Stay up-to-date on biopharma market trends, new technologies, and changing regulations to anticipate customer needs.

What we’re looking for…

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MSc, or equivalent experience) in genomics, molecular biology, bioengineering, or related field. Industry experience in biopharma is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in genomics and analytics for biologics, gene therapies, or vaccine development. In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality control in biopharma.
  • Successful history in B2B marketing, product management, or market development in life sciences or biotech.
  • Strategic problem solver with strong execution capabilities, able to identify key priorities, develop global marketing strategies, and communicate arguments to senior leadership.
  • Outstanding communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence internal and external collaborators, including KOLs, CROs/CMOs, and translational development partners.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and within a small, agile distributed team, effectively managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in translating complex scientific concepts into clear, compelling marketing materials that resonate with diverse technical and commercial audiences.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40%, including international trips, to engage with customers, attend conferences, and support central initiatives.
