Support Immunucore’s overall tax initiatives and support a rapidly changing and growing business. Responsible for helping manage the Group’s tax compliance activities and tax provision for financial reporting purposes. Manages UK, US and international taxation, both direct and indirect tax, ensuring that the Group is tax compliant across the various countries it operates (currently US, UK, Ireland and Switzerland). Position to be based in either UK or Ireland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsibilities include global tax compliance, both direct and indirect covering,
  • Overseeing various VAT/sales returns required in the UK, US and across the EU/RoW ensuring compliance is maintained.
  • Supporting the UK and US (Federal and State) corporation tax returns by working with external advisors for review of returns and resolving complex taxation issues and areas of judgement.
  • Completing the provisioning for the Group’s financial statements, year-end and interims.
  • Managing all aspects of the UK and US R&D Tax Credits, Orphan Drug Credit, and all other applicable tax credits and incentives. Includes maintaining appropriate supporting documentation to support and justify the tax claims.
  • Providing support and advice across the organisation and within Finance as the Group moves towards continuing commercialisation and seeks to expand sales into different geographies ensuring good, tax efficient decisions are made, including consideration of branches versus legal entities etc. Requiring a high-level understanding of business operations across research and development and commercial activities and future financing activities.
  • Understanding the Commercial activities within the Group and expanding footprint across different locations and managing the tax exposures that arise as a result.
  • Advising commercial and clinical supply chains on permanent establishment, VAT, and customs matters.
  • Maintaining tax and administrative policies and reviewing intercompany transactions for continuous improvement.
  • Owning tax key controls for Sarbanes Oxley purposes and ensuring compliance.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Skilled tax professional with 12+ years of experience and a strong finance background (pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience is a plus)
  • Relevant tax experience of advising companies operating in multiple tax jurisdictions.
  • Strong technical skills with excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and good understanding of tax law.
  • Interprets and understands complex tax legislation.
  • Open and honest team player.
  • Proactive and energetic: able to identify and implement business opportunities.
  • Anticipates risk through careful planning and analysis.
  • Operates with a strategic focus, as well as being in the detail and responsible for delivery.
  • Strong people management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in managing tax systems, process and technology across all taxes.
  • Good knowledge of US tax accounting, tax compliance and good understanding of tax law.
