Overview

This role manages existing external partnerships which are essential for the completion of strategically important projects and initiatives. The external partnerships managed by an alliance manager may have a wide range of goals including to advance products through development, regulatory, pre-launch and commercialization phases. Alliance management may need to lead cross-functional internal and external core project teams to ensure that project progress and meet pre-defined objectives. Alliance management develops, manages, and drives integrated project plans, drives identification, mitigation of project risks, facilitates internal and external communications to keep stakeholders informed of commitments, due dates and progress. This role requires bringing together internal and external alliance resources to support new product opportunities for the US and Ex-US markets.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, manage and lead cross-functional internal and external project teams to advance the development, submission, approval and launch of new diagnostic products.
  • Organize, schedule, and facilitate cross-functional team meetings to exchange information, drive project’s progress, identify risks, contingency planning, obtain resource commitment and promote collaboration.
  • Interface with department managers and senior management to facilitate allocation and prioritization of resources necessary to achieve objectives within established timelines.
  • Support the new and existing relationships with Alliance Partners and contractual obligations of all assigned projects.
  • Engage internal and external cross-functional teams and partner leaders at all levels to drive assigned projects forward in support of the departmental and business objectives.
  • For assigned projects, provide project management oversight for activities at all phases of the projects. This includes project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closing.
  • Use project management tools to create timelines, meeting minutes, action/decision logs and monitor project progress, project budget, report project status and analyze results against objective, e.g. SharePoint, Smartsheet, MS Project.
  • Track project milestones, develop recommendations and bring forward key decisions needed from Senior Management in support of the project and business objectives.
  • Manage meeting logistics to include scheduling, issuing agendas, meeting material preparation, action item identification, and writing meeting minutes.
  • Work closely with the core project team to identify and present optimal strategies for the timely completion of project activities.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external partners and be able to disseminate project information to internal members as needed.
  • For all assigned projects, proactively identify and resolve conflicts as needed, or raises conflicts and disputes to appropriate management for timely resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in a scientific discipline, preferably Biology, molecular biology or chemistry required. An advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Alliance Management, Product Development or Project Management.
  • Project Management experience required.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively as an interface between internal and external.
  • Proficiency in standard business application is required, e.g. MS Office Suite, MS Project.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in meetings/teleconferences with global partners in different time zones.
  • Broad understanding of the global molecular diagnostic market and industry.
  • Broad understanding of molecular diagnostic and pharmaceutical drug development life cycle from product discovery through regulatory approval to commercialization.
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts and agreements.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, leadership, ability to manage internal and external cross-functional teams, relationship management, delivery of presentations, conflict management and influencing skills.
  • Domestic Travel: 10-20%

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, and observing. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
