The role of the Technical Leader within the automation team at LabGenius encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at guiding the team, ensuring the quality and efficiency of automation processes, and aligning technical strategies with the company’s goals.
This is a crucial role in the automation team at LabGenius. This role helps to drive the technical success of the team, ensures high-quality automation solutions, and contributes to the overall strategic goals of the company.
What you’ll do in this role
Leadership and Project Management
Team Leadership:
- Technically lead and mentor the automation team, providing guidance and support.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and updates.
Project Management:
- Oversee automation projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with project leads to align automation goals with broader project objectives.
Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Technical Expertise
- Technical Strategy:
- Develop and implement the technical roadmap for automation projects.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in automation technologies and methodologies.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance automation processes.
System Design and Architecture:
- Design and architect automation systems that are scalable, robust, and efficient.
- Ensure the integration of automation systems with other parts of the organisation’s infrastructure.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and enforce best practices for coding, testing, and deployment of automation solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with coding standards and practices.
- Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Collaboration and Communication
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other functions (e.g., software development, data science, assay development) to ensure seamless integration and collaboration.
- Understand the requirements and constraints of other teams to align automation solutions with overall business objectives.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate technical concepts and project statuses to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prepare and present reports on automation performance, project progress, and future plans to senior management.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Innovation:
- Encourage and drive innovation within the team to explore new and effective ways to automate processes.
- Lead initiatives to prototype and implement cutting-edge automation solutions.
Continuous Improvement:
- Implement feedback loops to continually assess and improve automation processes and systems.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
Operational Oversight
- Operational Support:
- Ensure the reliability and availability of automation systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain documentation for automation processes and systems.
Compliance and Security:
- Ensure that automation solutions comply with relevant regulations and standards.
- Implement and maintain security best practices within automation systems.
What we’re looking for

- The Ideal candidate would be a lab based scientist with the following attributes:
-Proven ability to scope out and project manage complex laboratory automation projects between multiple stake holders and vendors.
-Excellent technical understanding of automation platforms used in high throughput screening.
Sound understanding of liquid handling principals, and device integration.
-Excellent ability to code in Python and SQL.
-Sound knowledge in the use and application of design of experiment (D.O.E ) software.
-Proven ability to manage and work across multiple functions with competing requirements.
